We are working with a leading Irish transport and logistics provider, delivering nationwide and international freight solutions. Due to continued growth, the company is now seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead its finance function and support strategic business decisions.
The Role Reporting to the Managing Director, the Financial Controller will oversee the finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls, and commercially focused decision-making. This role requires a proactive finance professional who can partner with operational teams to drive performance and profitability.
Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day finance function.
Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
Manage budgeting, forecasting and cash flow.
Monitor financial performance and provide commercial analysis.
Maintain robust financial controls and ensure statutory compliance.
Manage year-end audits and liaise with external auditors.
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
Partner with operations to analyse fleet, transport and operational costs.
Identify opportunities to improve profitability and business performance.
Lead and develop the finance team.
Support continuous improvement and finance system enhancements.
Requirements
Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA).
Previous experience as a Financial Controller or in a senior finance role.
Strong management accounting, budgeting and financial reporting experience.
Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
Experience in logistics, transport, distribution or a similar operational environment is advantageous.
Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
Advanced Excel and ERP/accounting systems experience.
