Environmental Health & Safety Officer Location: North Dublin Salary: €45,000 - €55,000 DOE Full-time | Permanent | On-site
Our client is an established organisation operating in a highly regulated environment and is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety Officer to join the team. Reporting to the Quality & EHS Director, the role will focus on maintaining strong health & safety and environmental standards across the business, with responsibility for audits, risk assessments, compliance, reporting and supporting a positive EHS culture.
Responsibilities
Maintain and develop the company's Health & Safety policies, procedures and Safety Statement.
Complete risk assessments, workplace inspections and EHS audits.
Investigate incidents, accidents and other safety-related issues and recommend corrective actions.
Work closely with managers and operational teams to identify and reduce workplace risks.
Monitor changes to Irish Health & Safety and environmental legislation and ensure ongoing compliance.
Support the development and maintenance of the company's Environmental Management System, including ISO 14001 requirements.
Develop and deliver EHS training and awareness initiatives across the organisation.
Monitor environmental performance and identify opportunities to improve EHS processes and standards.
Liaise with external bodies including the HSA, EPA and Local Authorities when required.
Support external inspections, audits and investigations.
Prepare EHS reports and provide practical advice to management.
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the organisation's overall safety culture.
Requirements
A relevant qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering or a related discipline.
At least 2 years' experience in a similar EHS/H&S position.
Strong knowledge of Irish Health & Safety and environmental legislation.
Practical experience with Environmental Management Systems and ISO 14001.
Experience carrying out audits, risk assessments and investigations.
Strong report writing and communication skills.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and relevant EHS/quality systems.
A practical and proactive approach to problem solving.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Ability to work independently while also engaging effectively with colleagues across the business.
Full professional fluency in English.
Flexibility to travel where required.
