Our client is an established organisation with operations across Ireland and is now looking to appoint an experienced Depot & Collections Manager to take overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of their Castlebar operation.
This is a hands-on operational management role covering depot operations, collections, fleet and transport, people management, SHEQ, compliance and performance. The successful candidate will have a visible presence on site, leading operational teams and ensuring the operation is running safely, efficiently and to the required service levels.
 
Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and performance of the depot and collections operation.
• Lead and manage depot, collections, fleet, maintenance and support teams.
• Plan and optimise collection routes, staffing, shift patterns and operational resources.
• Manage fleet performance, vehicle utilisation, GPS tracking, driver performance and maintenance requirements.
• Monitor operational KPIs including service levels, fuel usage, operating costs and fleet utilisation.
• Ensure the operation consistently meets required customer service levels and business targets.
• Maintain high standards of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) across the site and collection operations.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, licences, permits, company procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Manage workforce planning, including staffing levels, absence, recruitment and temporary cover.
• Monitor operational costs and support the management of the site's P&L and budgets.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs and improve service delivery.
• Provide visible leadership across the operation, driving accountability, continuous improvement and a strong team culture.

Requirements

• Proven experience in an operational management role within a logistics, transport, distribution or similarly operational environment.
• Experience managing depot, transport, collections or fleet operations.
• Strong people management and leadership experience across operational teams.
• Experience managing operational KPIs, service levels and performance targets.
• Good understanding of fleet management, route planning and transport operations.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety, environmental and operational compliance.
• Experience managing operational costs and budgets.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Confident communicator with the ability to work effectively with operational teams, customers, suppliers and senior management.
• A hands-on and visible management style, with the ability to lead from the front.
• Experience with GPS tracking, fleet management or transport management systems would be advantageous.
• Relevant transport qualifications would be advantageous.
• Experience with continuous improvement initiatives would be advantageous.

• €60,000-€70,000 salary, depending on experience.
