The Company Our client is an established agricultural business specialising in livestock rearing and sustainable farming. They are opening a new calf rearing unit in Carlow and are looking for an experienced Farm Manager to lead the operation. The Role This is a hands-on management role overseeing the daily running of the unit, including animal welfare, staff management, farm performance and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day operations of the calf rearing unit.
Oversee feeding, bedding, vaccinations and animal husbandry.
Maintain high animal welfare standards and maximise calf growth rates.
Recruit, train and supervise farm staff.
Monitor farm performance, costs and productivity.
Maintain accurate livestock records and ensure regulatory compliance.
Manage stock, supplies and equipment maintenance.
Ensure the unit operates efficiently and meets performance targets.
The Person
Previous farm management or supervisory experience.
Strong background in calf rearing, dairy or livestock farming.
Good knowledge of animal health and welfare.
Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
Commercially aware with a hands-on approach.
Good IT skills and a full clean driving licence.
The Offer
Salary of €50,000–€60,000.
