Job Title: Tendering Engineer - High Voltage Infrastructure
Location: Ireland (project-based travel may be required) Sector: High Voltage & Medium Voltage Electrical Engineering Role Overview An established engineering services provider operating across Ireland, the UK and Europe is seeking an experienced Tendering Engineer with expertise in high-voltage electrical systems. This role focuses on the preparation and submission of technical and commercial tenders for complex electrical infrastructure projects, including substations, transmission systems and grid connections. The successful candidate will work on critical energy infrastructure projects, collaborating closely with engineering, procurement and delivery teams to develop competitive and compliant bid submissions. This position requires both strong technical engineering knowledge and commercial awareness, supporting bid strategy, cost estimation and design coordination across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and interpret client tender documentation for high and medium voltage infrastructure projects.
Prepare complete technical and commercial tender submissions.
Develop bids for projects including:
High voltage substations
Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS)
Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS)
Transmission lines
Grid connections
Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities and pricing strategies based on technical scope and project risk.
Develop project programmes and propose value engineering solutions to optimise cost and delivery timelines.
Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations and technical documentation.
Ensure timely bid submissions and track tender progress through internal systems.
Participate in tender clarification meetings and support project handovers to delivery teams.
Manage multiple tenders simultaneously across varying deadlines and project requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
3+ years' experience in tendering, estimating or design within high or medium voltage infrastructure projects.
Experience working within utility tendering processes and full project lifecycles.
Strong technical knowledge of HV substation design (10kV - 220kV).
Experience with primary and secondary substation design is advantageous.
Familiarity with utility standards and practices (e.g. ESB / EirGrid or equivalent) desirable but not essential.
Understanding of civil engineering fundamentals relevant to infrastructure pricing.
Experience with EPLAN and AutoCAD 2D desirable.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and SharePoint / Office 365.
Strong knowledge of utility safety standards and engineering best practice.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based engineering environment.
Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
