The Company
A well-established hardware and building supplies business in Newcastle West is seeking a Trade Sales Assistant to join its growing team. The company supplies a wide range of products to both trade and retail customers and has built a strong reputation for customer service and product expertise.
 
The Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting trade sales growth by developing relationships with existing customers while identifying new business opportunities. The role combines trade counter sales, customer relationship management, telesales activity, and supporting the external sales team.
This is a target-driven position suited to a commercially minded individual who enjoys working with customers, identifying opportunities, and following through on sales leads.
 
Responsibilities
  • Provide professional and knowledgeable service to trade customers at the trade counter
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing trade clients
  • Identify opportunities to increase sales and grow customer accounts
  • Generate new business leads through online platforms, industry networks, and telesales activity
  • Manage and update CRM systems to track leads, customer interactions, and sales opportunities
  • Prepare quotations for the external sales team and follow up to convert opportunities into sales
  • Assist with order processing and customer enquiries
  • Provide product advice and support to customers across hardware and building materials
  • Support the wider team with retail and trade counter operations as required
Requirements
  • Previous experience in sales, hardware, building materials, or trade environments preferred
  • Strong sales ability with good commercial awareness
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Highly organised with strong follow-through on tasks and commitments
  • Ability to work on own initiative and manage priorities effectively
  • Comfortable using CRM systems and conducting telesales activity
  • Target-driven with motivation to achieve commission-based incentives
