A well-established accountancy practice is seeking an organised Bookkeeper to join its Tralee office. The role involves managing a portfolio of clients, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring timely VAT submissions using cloud-based systems. Working in a busy environment, this hands-on position supports the accounting team with day-to-day financial reporting and requires strong attention to detail, client communication, and the ability to manage multiple accounts independently.
Responsibilities
Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients
Process purchase and sales invoices, receipts, and bank transactions
Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
Prepare and file VAT returns in line with Irish Revenue requirements
Work with cloud accounting systems, particularly Xero
Maintain organised digital records and ensure compliance with regulations
Assist in the preparation of management accounts and year-end files
Liaise with clients to resolve queries and gather financial information
Requirements
Previous bookkeeping experience, ideally within an accountancy practice
Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns in Ireland
Proficiency in cloud accounting software (Xero preferred)
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good organisational and time management skills
Strong communication and client service skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple clients
Desirable
Xero Advisor certification
Experience with other systems (e.g. Sage, QuickBooks, Dext)
Accounting technician or bookkeeping qualification
