The Company
A growing Irish business operating within the engineering and infrastructure sector is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join its finance team. This is a hands-on role offering broad exposure across day-to-day financial operations within a fast-paced and expanding organisation.
Working closely with management, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, supporting reporting requirements, and ensuring the smooth running of the accounts function.
 
Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping processes
  • Process purchase invoices, supplier payments, and customer receipts
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with Revenue requirements
  • Assist with payroll administration and related reporting where required
  • Support month-end and year-end accounting processes
  • Maintain organised digital financial records and documentation
  • Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders regarding account queries
  • Assist management with financial reporting and cashflow monitoring
Requirements
  • Previous bookkeeping/accounts assistant experience in a similar role
  • Experience preparing VAT returns and managing day-to-day accounts functions
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable
  • Experience with Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar accounting systems
  • Accounting Technician, IATI, or bookkeeping qualification
  • Experience working within engineering, construction, utilities, or service-based industries
  • Payroll experience
