The Company A growing Irish business operating within the engineering and infrastructure sector is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join its finance team. This is a hands-on role offering broad exposure across day-to-day financial operations within a fast-paced and expanding organisation. Working closely with management, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, supporting reporting requirements, and ensuring the smooth running of the accounts function.
Responsibilities
Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping processes
Process purchase invoices, supplier payments, and customer receipts
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with Revenue requirements
Assist with payroll administration and related reporting where required
Support month-end and year-end accounting processes
Maintain organised digital financial records and documentation
Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders regarding account queries
Assist management with financial reporting and cashflow monitoring
Requirements
Previous bookkeeping/accounts assistant experience in a similar role
Experience preparing VAT returns and managing day-to-day accounts functions
Strong knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organisational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable
Experience with Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar accounting systems
Accounting Technician, IATI, or bookkeeping qualification
Experience working within engineering, construction, utilities, or service-based industries
Payroll experience
