Key Responsibilities
As a Trainee Accountant, you will:
  • Support senior colleagues by producing accurate work within agreed deadlines.
  • Develop technical knowledge through a combination of workplace learning and professional study.
  • Apply knowledge gained across a broad client portfolio.
  • Review your own work to identify and correct errors before submission.
  • Maintain professional communication with clients and colleagues.
  • Deliver work in line with company standards and procedures.
Technical Responsibilities
You will develop knowledge and practical experience across a broad range of accounting disciplines, including:
  • Bookkeeping
  • Accounts preparation
  • Tax compliance
  • Audit
  • Management accounts
You will also:
  • Develop a strong understanding of accounting principles and best practices.
  • Apply technical knowledge to client assignments.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for continuous learning and professional development.
General Responsibilities
  • Develop an understanding of clients and their businesses.
  • Understand the objectives and scope of assigned tasks.
  • Keep managers informed of progress, issues and deadlines.
  • Prepare statutory accounts ready for review.
  • Produce accurate, high-quality work in accordance with company standards.
  • Make effective use of available resources to resolve queries independently.
  • Accurately complete and maintain timesheets for client billing purposes.
  • Liaise with clients to obtain information required for accounts preparation and management reporting.
  • Complete work following manager review and client feedback.
  • Handle incoming telephone calls and communicate professionally with clients.
  • Provide reception cover when required.
  • Attend and actively contribute to team meetings.
  • Support ad hoc accounting and administrative tasks as required.
  • Participate in additional business initiatives, committees or social activities where opportunities arise.
Candidate Requirements
We are looking for someone who is:
  • Educated in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or currently studying towards a professional accounting qualification such as ACCA or ACA.
  • Passionate about building a long-term career in accountancy.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Analytical with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive and eager to learn.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional and confident when communicating with clients and colleagues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
